Monthly Archives: October 2013
Complete reading Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” for tomorrow. You should be annotating the text closely as you will need to bring this text with you for the test on Wednesday.
We will have a full class period review session tomorrow for the unit test, but you need to review each of our stories and myths and all of your lit terms!
You have a Unit Test on Wednesday, October 30th. Use your study guide to review your literary terms, the short stories and myths we have read and analyzed together, as well as the characters, conflicts, and figurative language found in each story.
By Friday, you will need to submit all of the following:
1. “Masque of the Red Death” annotated text
2. Story Map for “Masque”
3. Figurative Language for “Masque” (3 examples of imagery, 1 symbol, 1 additional example of figurative language). You need to identify the quotations from the text and provide an explanation of the significance pf the example.
4. The Imagery side of the “Scream” handout
5. An original mask (created by you) that represents either significant elements of the story or what you would wear if you were a guest at Prince Prospero’s masquerade.
